Yes, there is a difference.

Let’s start with the basics – a bed foundation or bed base is whatever your mattress rests on, including a box spring. Whatever you choose, the purpose of a bed base is to support your mattress so that your mattress can support you. Your mattress should somewhat determine the type of base that is best for your mattress and determine which type of base to choose.

Box Springs

Most box springs can sit on a metal or slatted bed frame. Foundations

Foundations provide support for your mattress and are usually constructed with a wooden frame and slats and no springs. Foundations are usually a good choice for foam mattresses or hybrid mattresses because they offer the right amount of support when constructed properly – make sure the slats are no more than 3 inches apart to avoid sagging and to help in extending the life of your mattress.  Most mattresses on the market today will work well with the foundations that are built with today’s cutting edge sleep technology.

With an adjustable bed base, you can customize your mattress’s head or head and foot angle to get the perfect positon you need for relaxing or working on your laptop or watching a movie. An adjustable base is a great option for supporting your mattress. Not all mattresses are compatible with an adjustable bed base.
